Featuring Gospel, R&B, Spoken Word, Holy Hip–Hop, Reggae, Jazz, Story Tellers, Steppers, Old School, New School and a whole lot more .........


Providence, Rhode Island's Emancipation Day Celebration is a Family Friendly event!

Currently, the African sub–committee, Music One and Sackett Street Recreation Center has continued to present this Celebration in Providence.

Local organizations such as The Prince Hall Mason, Masonic Lodge, and churches such as the Pond Street Church, Congdon Street Church, Bethel AME, and other groups such as the NAACP, the Urban League of Rhode Island, and the John Hope Settlement House, Providence Community Action(Pro–Cap) Martin Luther King Minority Commission, have been sponsors of this great event in the past.

Currently, the African sub–committee, Music One and Sackett Street Recreation Center have continued to present this Celebration in Providence.

The African sub–committee, Music One and Sackett Street Recreation Center consists of community– based people who have taken on the task of organizing, fund–raising, and selecting entertainment and vendors for the event.

It has become a popular event and a great opportunity for family and friends to unite. The entire audience, which is numbered some three thousand, has always seemed highly gratified with the entertainment, activities and networking, with the feeling of a big family reunion.
